Zarria Stephens

PSYCHOLOGY ASSOCIATE

Ms. Zarria Stephens was born and raised in Montego Bay, Jamaica. She attended the University of the West Indies, Mona for her undergraduate degree.

Ms. Stephens obtained a Master's degree in clinical psychology from Loyola University Maryland where she is also currently in the process of completing her doctoral degree in clinical psychology. Ms. Stephens is a licensed psychology associate in the state of Maryland. 

Ms. Stephens has an interest in both psychotherapy and neuropsychological assessment–both skills that she honed during her placement at Loyola Clinical Center, a community mental health clinic. In addition to her therapy work at Heartwood psychology, Ms. Stephens also works as a doctoral extern at Goucher College, providing short-term psychotherapy to college students. 

Ms. Stephens is committed to supporting clients from pre-adolescence to late adulthood with anxiety disorders, depression and other mood disorders, trauma, grief, identity-related concerns, relationship issues, and adjustment issues. Ms. Stephens uses an integrative approach, pulling from a variety of therapeutic approaches including psychodynamic therapy, multicultural therapy, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), interpersonal process, and mindfulness-based approaches. Fundamentally, she views therapy as a collaborative process wherein building a strong and secure therapeutic relationship is essential. She sees therapeutic collaborations characterized by respect, empathy, and trust as the first step in achieving the best psychotherapy outcomes.
