Kate Lepley

LICENSED GRADUATE PROFESSIONAL COUNSELOR

Before joining Heartwood, Kate Lepley, LGPC, spent 12 years working as a counselor in the public school system where she served children from diverse backgrounds, and ultimately learned that she most enjoyed helping children to resolve conflict and regulate emotions.

With this knowledge, it became clear to her that she could most help children with deeper issues, by transitioning to the counseling field. Utilizing CBT, solution-focused, and behavioral modalities, Kate instinctively meets children where they are, both developmentally and emotionally. She enjoys partnering with families to individualize treatment and sees therapy as an opportunity to “be in it together” to facilitate change with compassion.

Her prior work experience has given her insider knowledge on school systems, and she enjoys helping families navigate the challenges therein. Her clinical skills allow her to serve children with: anxiety, stress, academic concerns, behavioral challenges, relationship/friendship issues, poor self-esteem, life adjustments/transitions, and who need improved communication skills. As a warm, empathic, and empowering clinician, her work with children incorporates humor, play, mindfulness and movement.

In addition to being a counselor, Kate is a 200-hour registered yoga teacher, and she maintains a yoga and mindfulness certification for children. Always motivated to identify strengths and to remove the barriers for her clients, Kate is inspired by the Ross Greene quote, “Children do well when they can.”
